Volahn - Live Ritual
Volahn has never let me down, and I am sure many of the fans of this blog feel the same way. Quality musicianship dialing in to an abundance of ominous moods that never waiver. You should all know these songs by heart, and if you don't you suck. Everything is from past releases but with a lot more speed and noisy, stalactite guitars build atmospheric walls that crumble quickly as to erect another with deliberate dynamic shifts in both rhythm and barren black laments. If there exists such a thing as perfect Kaos than Volahn has always known the recipe and works it into every piece of this album, even the vocals charge the alchemical sigils like a mantra. People are complaining about the sound quality on this, but it was well known before hand that this was a boombox recording. I played the LP last night and loved it - it really gets across the immediacy and ritual chaos of a Volahn show. Thanks for posting this.
